Jennifer + Roc

Happy three-month anniversary to Jennifer and Roc. The wonderful couple decided to get married outdoors, in the beauty of downtown Tulsa’a Centennial Park on a warm October evening. Their original plan was to shuffle the men and women back and forth from homes down south for pre-ceremony photos. The plan would have worked, but put a pretty big cramp on the time available. We suggested instead that they get rooms at the nearby Savoy hotel. Just across the street from the park the hotel sped up the process and allowed us to make up time when needed.

The ceremony was bathed in the warm late afternoon light of an urban sunset. Beautiful colors and shadows danced across the patio overlooking the park as Jennifer and Roc were married. Later at the German Society, the couple danced the night away as family and friends joined in food and drink. Anne’s Bakery provided a beautiful cake to compliment PartyServe’s catering. DJ Connection had everyone dancing all night!

Jennifer + Roc

The sun dips low in the midsummer sky and backlights the world as Jennifer and Roc stroll down the stone-lined walkway through the park. The light shimmers across the water and through Jennifer’s straw-colored hair like the tall grass of the Oklahoma summer. Their love shines through it all. In October they’ll be wed here in this very place. The air will be chilled; the temperature the same.

Later, Jennifer’s heels click across the hot pavement and echo off the buildings along the sparsely populated downtown street. Hand in hand she and Roc walk along the sidewalks, past the cafes and empty offices. They sit and chat outside a bustling restaurant; pose playfully in front of a Maserati. It matches her dress. As the last light falls across the city he dips her and their effervescent laughter bounces off the glass around the city park.

Simple is beautiful

The light trickled through the trees and danced across the guest’s faces as Alex waited nervously in the woods. Megan approaches, hidden and quiet, through the Post Oak forest and waits for the men to take their places under the pavilion; waits for the moment to be hers. A hush falls over the crowd and the music swells up out of the spot and floats across the fresh canopy of leaves. As she makes her way down the earthen aisle, the sun pours through the opening in the arbor handmade by him and onto the resplendent face of his bride. His eyes; illuminated.

Later, the chatter of the family, gathered for photographs, echoes softly through the woods and across the brilliant green grass. They swap in and out of frame quickly to flash a smile and record a moment. When all is done, the party makes their way up the hill to the lodge. Candle lanterns lead the way along the winding rock path. A young girl, replete with joy runs ahead and in her hurry, loses a shoe.

Back at the lodge, the couple sits on the ivory couch placed in the woods for them as the electric lights glow warm in the summer air above. Their affection is as clear as the night and directed only at one another. Finally the time comes and they enter the lodge as man and wife for all time. The night’s affairs roll on. Drink, food, cake, dance. In the end the light is gone. But the illumination remains.undefined

Megan + Alex

Scheduling engagement sessions is often more exciting than it should be. For example, we worked hard to schedule a shoot for this lovely couple, Megan and Alex. But with his work schedule and her school schedule, time was tight. Add to that the unpredictable Oklahoma weather and… well you get the picture.

But, we finally got it shot and despite being during finals week, it turned out beautiful.
