Nadine + Jonathan

Nadine and Jonathan’s wedding at The Golf Club of Oklahoma was so much fun, it would be easy to forget to mention the most romantic and touching moment of the night. So here it is up front: The evening was calm, clear and beautiful but somewhat chilly on the green hillside just outside the clubhouse. Nadine looked absolutely stunning in her strapless gown, but she was shivering a bit.
Halfway through the ceremony, Jonathan looked at the pastor and asked for permission to pause for a second. He then took off his jacket and placed it around his bride’s shoulders to warm her up.  Then, with Jonathan in his shirt and Nadine in her bridal gown and his oversized jacket, they were ready to go on. Sometimes it’s the small things that really show how much you love someone!
The party was a blast. The Golf Club of Oklahoma is one of those places that always looks great, with its wide veranda and grand entrance hall. The club laid out a delicious buffet, and there were pretty wedding cupcakes after the cake-cutting for all. The DJ and a lively crowd kept the dance floor busy. Both Jonathan and Nadine, who changed into a fun feathery little dress, were right in the middle of it all night. They had been waiting for this wedding celebration for a long time,  and their faces were full of joy as they headed into the night _ on a golf cart with cans tied to the back. We wish this fun pair the best! _ Kelly

Laura + Alex

Laura and Alex had a big surprise for friends and family who gathered at the Skirvin Hotel in Oklahoma City to celebrate their engagement. It wasn’t an engagement party at all. Laura and Alex were getting married then and there!

She broke the news to her suddenly-bridesmaids with a series of posters that ended with, “Surprise!” His friends suddenly found themselves turned into groomsmen, minus the stiff tuxes and plastic shoes. This calm and relaxed pair had wanted a low-key event and even their grandparents weren’t let in on the secret until it was time for Laura to walk down the aisle.

She was simply stunning in the beautiful form-fitting gown she pulled from its hiding place in a closet. Their faces were radiant and happy when they returned down the aisle as husband and wife. Alex kept stopping to kiss her as they headed out for some quick photos of just the two of them.

The Skirvin’s ballroom looked magnificent, with towering tabletop bouquets and a grand head table lined with vases of twigs and soft lights by Tony Foss Flowers. Laura’s cascading bouquet from Tony Foss made for a lovely background for the couple’s rings from BC Clark. (The two, by the way, took the BC Clark’s “Pray for Rain” challenge seriously. You get back a big chunk of change from BC Clark if it rains on your wedding day. It did, sometime just after midnight. The only problem for Laura and Alex is that they couldn’t tell anyone it was their wedding day!) Donetta, Molly and I all had a fantastic time capturing Laura and Alex and their friends and family on the dance floor, moving to the music of the band, Hook. We were so glad to be in let in on this fantastic surprise wedding day! _ Kelly

Lindsay + Aaron – the engagement

Lindsay and Aaron told me that they live in the country, or almost, but are sort of city people so they weren’t sure if they wanted urban or earthy photos, so we headed downtown and did a little of both. All day the sun had come in and out of the clouds, but storms were rolling in and right before our session began the clouds took over the sky. Although we were hoping that the sun would peek through just a little here and there, it ended up being perfect weather for our outdoor shoot at Centennial Park and then in the heart of downtown Tulsa.

There was a warm breeze blowing and the smell of rain as Lindsay and Aaron strolled through the park hand in hand, laughing at each other and giggling at how “weird” it is to have a camera following you around. Although they said they were a little uncomfortable in front of the camera, they definitely didn’t show it. Maybe it was because they were so caught up in loving each other that it masked it. They were so playful and comfortable together and the ease with which they interacted was such a beautiful thing. It was refreshing to see two people enjoy each others company so completely, not take each too seriously and to just be together. I am so looking forward to their wedding in September and to share with them as they begin a new chapter of life.  – Lauren

Brittany + Ryan – playing in the park

Brittany and Ryan couldn’t pass up the springtime glory of Woodward Park when they came to Tulsa on a recent visit from their homes in Tonkawa. The park was in full bloom with pink, fuchsia and salmon azalea blossoms and bathed in golden light the evening we met for their engagement photos. A pretty location, however, isn’t what makes a beautiful picture. The beauty is in the way a couple looks at each other or the way they spontaneously break into laughter at the same time.

It’s the way Ryan carries his future bride’s lip gloss in his pocket and rolls up his jeans to step into a slippery stream bed so she can jump into his arms. It’s Brittany throwing her arms around his neck and smiling, not because I asked her to, but because there’s happiness there. It’s the way they play outside the old Airstream trailer we found in a parking lot, knowing that their first home together will be the one they make traveling with a truck and a fifth wheel. _ Kelly

Jennifer + Roc

Happy three-month anniversary to Jennifer and Roc. The wonderful couple decided to get married outdoors, in the beauty of downtown Tulsa’a Centennial Park on a warm October evening. Their original plan was to shuffle the men and women back and forth from homes down south for pre-ceremony photos. The plan would have worked, but put a pretty big cramp on the time available. We suggested instead that they get rooms at the nearby Savoy hotel. Just across the street from the park the hotel sped up the process and allowed us to make up time when needed.

The ceremony was bathed in the warm late afternoon light of an urban sunset. Beautiful colors and shadows danced across the patio overlooking the park as Jennifer and Roc were married. Later at the German Society, the couple danced the night away as family and friends joined in food and drink. Anne’s Bakery provided a beautiful cake to compliment PartyServe’s catering. DJ Connection had everyone dancing all night!
