Hanging on the church door was a chalkboard sign that pronounced the establishment of Chapman and Shelby’s union. But I think their sweet way of laughing with their heads together after the ceremony spoke even more clearly of their special bond.
Their wedding took place on a beautiful, unusually heat-free August evening. Their ceremony came in the traditional elegance at First United Methodist Church in downtown Tulsa and was followed by a reception at the magnificently rustic Five Oaks Lodge in Jenks. The lodge was decorated with lanterns and mason jars and flowers from the Bridal Garden. One of the lanterns was particularly special _ a gift etched by Chapman for Shelby. Icing on the Top made the cake and DJ Connections kept the dance floor busy.
I think about the special moments I saw _ the way Shelby’s mother, Michele, held her daughter for a minute and just gazed at her in her gown, the way the bride jumped into her father’s arms after their fun father-daughter dance, Chapman’s happy, laughing face when he and Shelby had a few minutes to themselves after the ceremony, the pride as Chapman’s uncle gave the couple a special toast, their absolute joy as they rushed into the night together. Congratulations to these two on a wonderful beginning!

Brittany and Ryan’s wedding at Bridle Creek Ranch near Sperry was simply adorable in so many ways. From the vintage decor that suited the log lodge perfectly to Ryan’s tears when he saw his beautiful bride for the first time, it was sweet way for a couple to begin their lives together. I can’t believe they are fast approaching their one-year anniversary!
Brittany made sure there were lots of great decorative details. Black and white photos strung down the wall showed how their lives began and then came together. Tabletops featured old books inscribed with love notes and charming bouquets from The French Bouquet’s Petite Fleur in antique bottles. The couple made their own photo booth with lots of funny handheld props.
The ceremony took place on a hillside just behind the lodge. Ryan’s happy tears and Brittany’s joyful smile made the pretty surroundings all the better. Bridle Creek Ranch offered a stunning background for the couple’s first stroll as newlyweds. The sunlight streaking across the Osage hills wrapped them in a glow as warm and happy as their shared embraces.
At the reception, guests enjoyed delicious eats by Michael’s Catering and cake from A Sweet Success. The delicate three-tiered white wedding cake faced some serious competition for attention, though, from the groom’s cake, a perfectly edible replica of the Millenium Falcon from Star Wars. DJ Jason Casey kept everyone on the dance floor until late into the night.
In a stolen moment, Brittany and Ryan shared a quiet dance alone outside, under the stars and a canopy of string lights. We were there to capture it. But they were so wrapped up in each other, I don’t think they noticed us much at all. Congratulations to this couple for their first year and all the years to come! _ Kelly
Becky and Jim’s kids were calling each other “brother” and “sister” even before the two united their families in a simply lovely ceremony at Five Oaks Lodge in Jenks. The lodge was the perfect spot for their intimate gathering of family and friends. Tables covered in green and black cloths and hurricane lamps were set for the reception at one end, while everyone gathered to see the couple exchange vows in front of the massive rustic fireplace at the other end.
Becky and Jim each have three children, and they all took part in the ceremony. After some photos of their newly combined family, Becky and Jim snuggled close for some pics of just the two of them. They needed no prodding _ all that happy gazing into each other’s eyes and sweet kissing came naturally. I’m not sure they wanted to leave that closeness to get back inside to the party!
The feast set by Five Oaks, however, was a great enticement. Young Evan made sure a chocolate fountain got plenty of use before dinner. The dinner buffet was delicious! Five Oaks’ catering always tastes as good as it looks. After dinner, the newlyweds sliced into a polka-dot, ribbon-wrapped cake from Ann’s Bakery.
The kids helped lead the dancing when the DJ from Oklahoma City’s M&M Productions started cranking out fast-moving tunes. Later, the couple’s girls danced with Jim and the boys took turns dancing with Becky. And that’s how I left them. Everyone dancing, everyone smiling. Congratulations Jim and Becky on your new life together! _ Kelly
While the Harwelden Mansion was beautiful, the Stacy and Trey were simply stunning. Decked out in traditional tuxedos and black bow ties Trey and his groomsmen looked on as each bridesmaid made their way down the isle in beautiful and unique to them, natural colored dresses. Of course, naturally, it was Stacy that stole the show in a beautiful silk gown bedecked with fine silk flowers and intricate crystal beading. She was radiant as her father escorted her to her groom. While all the special family heirlooms carefully placed throughout the mansion made the day was about the past as well as the present and future, Trey’s father cranked up the intimacy of the day by conducting the ceremony that proclaimed Trey and Stacy as husband and wife.
After the quick ceremony partygoers headed inside for a delicious meal and lots of dancing. The dance floor was hopping all night as the ladies slipped on their dancing shoes and the guys made sure to collect the celebratory koozies that the bride and groom had made for guests. Folks gathered together sipping on the specialty drink of the night and conversed on the back porch and in the the garden, romantically lit with tea lights hanging from branches.
Their wedding was exceptional as the bride and groom made sure to think of all of the little details and created an intimacy like none other, showing their love for each other and their families, here and gone. We wish you both the best in your beautiful future together!
