Summer + Brent
It’s pretty sweet when a bride and groom look like two kids in a candy store on their wedding day. Summer and Brent made the most of their mutual sweet tooths July 31, when they exchanged vows and then celebrated with friends and family over a candy buffet so heavenly you’d think Oompa Loompas had a hand in it. The sweetest moment came, though, when Brent saw his bride for the first time alone in Kirkland Chapel at Camp Loughridge. She swept up the aisle behind him in her flowing strapless gown. He turned and held her at arms length, simply marveling. Later, when friends and family had gathered in the A-frame chapel, with its wall of windows overlooking a small lake and a forest of oaks, the couple said their “I dos,” their faces glowing in the filtered light. The friend who had set them up for a first date beamed from the third row.
Lynn Wheatley of Lasting Impressions worked her magic on the camp’s conference center, transforming a hall of rustic logs into confection heaven. Pink and green lanterns flitted over a long, long stretch of tables overflowing with an assemblage of bright candies and rich chocolates, citrus tartlettes, cheeses, fruits, cookies _ and milk. The Catering Kitchen provided the food and Icing on the Top created the four-tiered wedding cake. Pianists from Music Consultants playing two black grand pianos kept the music flowing softly all afternoon long.
With wildly waving pink and green ribbons, friends and family sent Summer and Brent off on their honeymoon. Up and over a hill, they drove away with “Just Married” written on the window of their candy-apple colored car. ~Kelly
