Victoria + Ben

A wedding at McBirney Mansion is a special thing to me. It is the place, after all,  where 13 years ago my husband and I exchanged our own vows in the lovely  garden on a hill overlooking the Arkansas River. But I have to say, I’ve never seen it looking quite so stunning as it did the night Victoria and Ben wed.

undefinedFirst, there was the beautiful evening light streaming through the trees and glowing through Victoria’s spectacularly long veil as she swept down the front steps to meet Ben under the arbor in the garden.undefined

undefinedundefinedThen, having two photographers during the ceremony (thanks Josh!) allowed us to capture Victoria and Ben from two unique vantage points. These two photos record the moment Victoria and Ben were declared husband and wife. I love how they each show a very distinct expression of joy on their faces.undefinedundefinedundefinedInside, event planner and designer Jeffrey Evans and his crew transformed the old manse  with soft fuschia lighting and pale pink tablecloths. Bouquets of  pink roses and peonies from Lila’s bloomed here and there on tables throughout the main hall. Palace Cafe provided a lovely and tasty buffet, and Icing on the Top created the beautiful tiered cake. undefinedThe toast by Ben’s brother, Will, had everyone rolling with laughter. undefinedundefinedundefinedEvans used pink lighting, modern pillows and sleek white leather seating to give McBirney’s downstairs a hip club feel. DJ Bo Counts kept the place hopping late into the night. And then, at this reception full of great ideas came the greatest of all: a bright and colorful taco truck showed up outside to revive the revelers with absolutely sizzling carnitas, carne asada and pollo tacos.undefinedundefinedundefinedI loved this sweet little moment, captured in an outdoor spotlight, while Ben and Victoria are waiting for their orders of tacos.
undefinedThe next day, Victoria’s parents hosted a brunch at the Tulsa Historical Society. Evans again worked his magic on the tables, handmaking the charming little tags that featured scenes from the couple’s honeymoon destination. A fresh latte from the coffee bar operated by Nordaggio’s was a delicious touch, and a good reviver after a night of revelry.undefined

What a beautiful wedding and a beautiful start to their new life together. Congrats, Victoria and Ben!  _ Kelly
